Meditation

Meditation Is…

simply giving your mind space to be quiet. It is not a mystical practice reserved only for spiritual gurus. It is simply…

… taking as little as a minute to focus your mind on one thing. This provides the mind a needed break from its constant state of processing. The mind thinks itself, and meditation allows us to step back and bring awareness to the present moment.

The benefits of meditation include stress reduction, increased self-awareness, increased patience, reduced negative emotions, and increased creativity.

How to Meditate:

  • You can practice meditation while you are in motion by focusing on a sensation, a sound, or something you can see. Examples of this are focusing on the feeling of the water while washing the dishes or the ground beneath your feet while walking.

  • You can practice meditation while you are sitting still and focusing on your breath or the feeling of your body connecting to the surface below you.

  • Meditations can last one minute or up to an hour. Any amount of time will be beneficial.
